Description
Emile Vernon (1872-1919)
He was a student of Fine Arts Tours, and there received the first prize for drawing in 1888. Then in Paris, he followed the teachings of William Bouguereau and Auguste Truphme (1836-1898). In 1898, he participated in the exhibition of Fine Arts and Decorative Arts Tours and starts at Salon of French Artists . He exhibited regularly until 1913, especially with portraits, landscapes and floral paintings. It will be a few murals on orders, such as those made for the theater Chatellerault in 1899. He excels in watercolor paintings of women and children in sweet colors and bucolic settings but can also be more rigorous through the portrait of Mrs. Vernon, Under the Lamp .
More academic than truly original, he knew no problem with his paintings and the delicate charm remains, even today, relatively unknown.
