High Five Sea Otter Morro Bay California 2 by Barbara Snyder
This mom and her pup were found floating inside the docks at Morro Bay, California, just off the shoreline. There were about 60 moms with babies floating around, entertaining the crowds and photographers.
The California Sea Otter has made a nice comeback but it is still on the endangered species list as their growth has seemed to have plateaued at a level that still has experts concerned for their future.
There is a worldwide ban on harvesting sea otters once coveted for their fur as a fashion statement.
Barbara Snyder Barbara Snyder lives on the Central Coast of California. As a California native she has always felt the allure of the great variety of natural features offered in her home state. Born in Santa Maria, California, Victoria graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo as a history major, English minor. She earned her Master's degree in education from the same university and began a teaching career that has spanned over 3 decades. During that time photography has always been a part of her life and has been enhanced by the opportunities for summer travel and finding new subjects and interests to expand her photographic endeavors. .
